  I have never been treated so rudely in my entire life. After having an amazing weekend at subsonic this pub seemed to ruin every ounce of happiness I had. I thought the staff were having a very rough night so I even offered to help clean up after ourselves and was greated with even more rudeness.

  We stayed at the rooms at the pub. Great place. Cool locals and real fun.

  Honestly the most atrocious hospitality experience I've ever had. I was and still am stunned by how rude the staff were. My friends and I had gone in around 3pm and were told that dinner starts at 6pm. We came back for dinner at arrived at 7:55pm - the staff watched us all pick up menus and try and decide what to eat without bothering to mention that the kitchen closed in 5 minutes. They also hadn't previously mentioned that we only had a 2 hour window to get dinner. We finally went to order at 8pm. 2 female staff members were working at the counter, with one serving another customer. The free staff member looked at us, then told the other "I'm going out the back" and disappeared without bothering to serve us. We finally got to order at 8:06pm only to very brashly be told, "no, kitchen closed at 8pm. You can only order fries or schnitzel, that's it". We went back to the table to tell our friends the news and try and find somewhere else to eat, only to be followed out by what I assume was the manager - who was extremely rude and obnoxious - so she could tell us to hurry up, and that if we wanted to eat we needed to order right there and then because they needed to turn off the deep fryer. When we asked if there was anywhere else we could get a proper meal from we were told "no. Depends which way you're driving, there's a place 40 km out" - we had clearly been immediately picked as outsiders and were clearly not welcome. Desperately tired and hungry, and not actually leaving town that night as they had assumed, we conceded to just order fries and schnitzel. They still managed to get our orders wrong, with incorrect sauces being dumped over the fries. My partner, who works in hospitality, was so stunned by the way we were treated he tried to be overly nice, hoping it would calm them down - he offered to help what we assumed was the manager ("do you want a hand?"), only for her to audaciously remark, "no, definitely not". Not sure if we were treated so poorly because we weren't from Stroud, or if that's just how poor the service here is, but I can say that when we are back in town next year we will be getting food from ANYWHERE except this place.

  Charming staff who unfortunately lie about prices to lure customers in and stop customers from heading down to the cheaper bottle shop.
